Mrs. Melanie Rucker

 

This year our theme is Ready…Set…Grow, because we are ready to begin a new journey with creative Science Lab activities to inspire and stimulate your child’s growth. I am Melanie Wideman Rucker, your child’s Science Lab teacher.  I was born and reared on Mims Drive here in McCormick, SC.  My parents were the late Horace (Pie) and the late Dorothy S. Wideman.  I am the fifth child of nine children. I attended school right here in McCormick County.  For over 38 years,  I have been teaching in the McCormick County School District.  I attended Piedmont Technical College and Lander University where I obtained degrees in Secretarial Science, Business Education, and Elementary Education.  I was married to the late Glenn Rucker.  Our two daughters are Kimberly and Pamela Rucker.  I am a Christian and a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Greenwood, SC.  My hobbies include singing, reading, walking, watching movies, and spending time with my family.  I also enjoy teaching the Cubbies class in the Awana program at my church. 

I am extremely excited to serve you and your child this year.  Your child is a precious member of our school with unique talents and abilities.  I have high academic expectations for your child.  Using innovative creativity, critical thinking, and technology to collaborate and communicate, we are Ready and Set to Grow your child's knowledge and wisdom.
