  • Seniors Planning for College

    McCormick High Seniors, it is time to start working on your post-secondary plans which means beginning the college application process. Seniors, please remember to request letters of recommendation and register for the SAT or ACT, if necessary. You also should be in the process of researching colleges and scholarships.

    Admission deadlines are fast approaching, as well as some national scholarship deadlines. Use websites such as Fastweb.com and Bigfuture.collegboard.org. Create an account on these sites to assist you with your research. Also, contact your school counselor, Mr. Davis can help you through this process.

    Make sure that you check out virtual college tours and scholarships that are listed under the Guidance Department page on the McCormick High website. Class of 2021, know that you are equipped to achieve each and every opportunity that is available to you. GO CHIEFS!!!

  • Virtual College Application Nights

    Seniors, if you choose to start applying to colleges before our College Application Day, some colleges will be hosting Virtual College Nights where students can log on, ask questions and get assistance directly from the college they are applying to.

    University of South Carolina Columbia/SC CHE sponsored application night is scheduled for next Tuesday, September 22, 2020, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm!

     South Carolina Commission on Higher Education (CHE) staff will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have about state scholarships and grants!!!

    Volleyball 

    • 1st home game will be on Thursday Sept. 10 @ 5:30p.m. vs Southside Christian
    • Tickets will be sold at the door - $5.00 each (please bring correct change.) *seating is limited*

     Varsity football

    • 1st home game will be on Friday, Sept. 25 @ 7:30p.m. vs Dixie (tickets will be sold in advance for $8.00.) 

    *tickets will not be sold at the gate. *

     Varsity players will purchase their parent/guardian tickets from Coach Pratt (only 2 tickets per player) 

     High school students can purchase their tickets during their lunch break on Monday and Tuesday prior to the game from Mrs. Talbert or Mrs. Belton in the front office.

    High school teachers/staff can purchase tickets from Mrs. Talbert or Mrs. Belton on Monday and Tuesday prior to the game between 3:00pm & 4:00 pm.

     Middle school faculty, staff, & students can purchase tickets from Ms. Middleton on Monday and Tuesday prior to the game at her designated time.

     Elementary school faculty, staff, & students can purchase tickets from Mrs. Luchey on Monday and Tuesday prior to the game at her designated time.

     All community fans can purchase their tickets from Coach Salliewhite on Wednesday prior to the game in the rear parking lot of the high school from 5:00p.m. To 7:00p.m.

     Contact Coach Salliewhite on Thursday prior to the game for additional ticket availability.

     McCormick county school district staff members will not be allowed into the games for free this year due to limited seating in our gym and football stadium. 

     The athletic department will accept all season passes and high school league passes until stadium or gym capacity is met.

  • EXPECTATIONS DURING THE PANDEMIC

    • When You Arrive:
      • All students must have temperatures checked before they enter MHS
        • Only three entrances are open in the morning:
          • Front Office Entrance
          • Student Parking Entrance
          • Bus Entrance
        • All students will be asked questions from the CDC
        • If you have a temperature or have COVID 19 symptoms:
          • Parents will be called immediately
          • Students must be picked up ASAP
          • Students will be monitored in the MHS nursing station to remain isolated
          • The nursing station will be sanitized once student is picked up
        • Report to your Breakfast Room
          • The cafeteria is closed. Your breakfast room assignment will be emailed to you this evening. Please check your email this evening.
          • Breakfast will be delivered to the classroom
          • You may bring your own breakfast
            • You may not share your breakfast
          • When discarding your breakfast, use the appropriate trash receptacles.
            • Do not use the classroom trash cans.
            • Do not splatter food on the walls

    Educators at the S.C. Department of Education have developed remote learning resources that can be used by teachers across all grade levels. The links and resources included were both developed internally by the Office of Standards and Learning and vetted from outside sources for use by school districts as instructional resources.   • Students that enter MHS, PTC greenwood, PTC McCormick or Abbeville career must follow the uniform dress code policy.

    No hoodies are to be worn in the building at any time.

    All pullover sweatshits or jackets that come over the head must be solid, red, black or white.

    All pullover sweatshirts or jackets must be worn with a polo or button-down shirt underneath.

    Students are not to wear do-rags, hats, caps, headbands, sweatbands or any head covering.

    Please review the student dress code, board policy JICA-R, in the handbook for students and parents.

  • Safety 1st The following safety measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of all athletic attendees:

    • Gates will open 2 hours prior to kickoff
    • Metal detectors will be used at all entrances
    • Clear Bag Rule strictly enforced
    • No weapons allowed including pocket knives of any size and weapons carried with a permit
    • No ilegal drugs or alcoholic beverages
