    SPANISH 1 Course Syllabus / ESPANOL 1 Contenido

    The Spanish 1 course introduces students to the skills of language study: Speaking, Listening, Writing and Reading. The objective is that students develop the basic skills they need to intercat and communicate in Spanish.

    It is also intended that they compare and contrast the US and Hispanic cultures so they can inderstand and interpret the concepts and values from different points of view.

    Critical thinking, Problem solving, Communication, Collaboration, Creativity and Innovation are other skills that will be integrated so that students  have diverse range of skills to succeed in this global world.

     

     

    Unit 1 / Unidad 1

    At the end of this unit, students will be able to: / Al finalizar la unidad 1 los estudiantes seran capaz de;

    • Greet and Say goodbye / Saludar y despedirse
    • Ask for and say your name / Preguntar y decir sus nombres
    • Introduce yourself and others / Presentarse y presentar a otros 
    • Classroom commands and classroom survival expressions / Seguir instrucciones, mandatos y usar expresiones comunes del salon de clases.
    • Identify classroom objects / Identificar los objetos de la clase.
    • Spell your name and common words / Deletrear nombres y palabras comunes
    • Ask for and give personal information (1) / Pedir y dar informacion personal
    • Identify the Spanish speaking countries. / Identificar los paises de habla hispana

    Unidad 2 / Unit 2

    At the end of this unit, students will be able to / Al finalizar la unidad los estudiantes seran capaz de:

    • Ask for and give personal information (2) / Pedir y dar informacion personal (2)
    • Identify numbers and count to 60 / Identificar los numeros y contar hasta 60. 
    • Ask for and exchange phone numbers / Pedir e intercambiar el numero de telefono
    • Ask for and give dates / Preguntar y dar fechas.
    • Tell the time / Dar la hora.
    • Identify and describe school subjects / Identificar y describir las asignaturas escolares.
    • Compare and contrast school schedules and classes in the US and Spanish speaking countries / Comparar y contrastar horarios escolares y clases en los Estados Unidos vs los paises de habla hispana

    • Talk about food and drinks / Hablar sobre comidas y bebidas 
    • Compare and contrast the popularity of different sports in the US and Spanish speaking countries. / Comparar y contrastar la popularidad de diferentes deportes en los Estados Unidos y los paises de habla hispana 
    • Compare and contrast food diversity among Spanish speaking countries in South America. / Comparar y contrastar la diversidad de la comida en los paises de habla hispana en America del Sur 

     

     

    SPANISH 2 Course Syllabus / ESPANOL  2 Contenido 

    The Spanish 2 course focuses on the continuation of the development of the different skills of the language. Students will be able to communicate in Spanish and to develop cross - cultural skills and understanding of Spanish speaking countries.

    Critical thinking, Problem solving, Communication, Collaboration, Creativity and Innovation are other skills that will be integrated so that students have a diverse range of skills to succeed in this global world.

     

    Unit 1 / Unidad 1

    At the end of the unit, students will be able to: / Al finalizar la unidad los estudiantes seran capaz de:

    • Identify and contrast the use of the verbs SER and ESTAR (to be). / Identificar y diferenciar el uso de los verbos SER y ESTAR 
    • Describe people ( qualities, appearance, feelings) / Describir personas ( personalidad, apariencia, sentimientos) 
    • Describe actions in pogress. The present progressive tense / Describir acciones en progreso. The present progressive
    • Identify regular verbs / Identificar verbos regulares
    • Talk about the present / Hablar de eventos en el tiempo presente 
    • Talk about trips and means of transportation / Hablar sobre viajes y medios de transporte
