    Citing Your Sources

Remembering how to appropriately format your research paper and cite the sources used can be very difficult at times.  You will find helpful tips to assist you below.

     Formatting your paper
Font: 12pt., Times New Roman, double spaced
Margins: 1 inch on all sides (this should be the automatic setting for most programs)
Indenting paragraphs: hit Tab key one time
Header: Last name followed by page number (top right corner); you can have the program automatically number the pages by clicking "Page #)
If you have included any endnotes, they should be on a new page between the paper itself and your Works Cited page.

     Works Cited page
Begin on a new page at the end of your paper (after any endnotes you may have included).  Make sure to label it as "Works Cited" and center it on the page.
All citations should be in alphabetical order. (left justified on page)
Titles of books, magazines, movies, etc. should be italicized.
Titles of poems, short stories and articles should be in "quotations."
The 2nd, 3rd, etc. lines of each citation should be indented.
